The Industrial Production Solution for Soft Fishing Lures (Soft Baits)

Jul.01.2025

Soft bait products are used by every angler for their high versatility and customizable features. They can take various forms through molds, offer colorful options with pigments, adjust salinity, include glitter for more light effects, and add scent agents to mimic real baitfish.

Raw Material Selection
99% of soft plastic swimbaits are made from four main materials: PVC, TPE, TPR, and silicone.
- All four materials can be colored, usually specified by clients (Pantone color charts are recommended). Monochromatic and two-tone designs are most common, with three-tone or multi-tone treatments for special cases.
- After color matching, salt and glitter are added according to design specs. Scent agents are typically applied after the product is formed.

PVC baits

PVC are hardest, most wear-resistant, and allow transparency adjustment, making them the most widely used. Producers melt materials at high temperatures and use specialized paints or 3D printing to add realistic details.

TPE/TPR materials

TPE/R have better ductility and tear resistance. Note: Storing PVC and TPE together can cause melting, which is why anglers often keep baits in original packaging.

Forms of Soft Swimbaits
Soft plastic lures come in diverse shapes—realistic fish, shrimp, insects, etc.—defined by molds.
- Lead weights embedded inside maintain softness while enhancing casting range.
- Different rigs (e.g., Texas rig, Alabama rig) alter swimming actions to attract target fish.

3. Production Process
1. Injection Molding: Molds are loaded into injection equipment, raw materials are injected, and baits cool before demolding.
2.Trimming & QC: Workers trim excess material, inspect for defects, and upload data to the MES system.
3. Assembly: Add 3D eyes, scent agents, and packaging. Final QC is conducted before shipping.

4. Customization Options
- Brand logos can be integrated into molds for permanent branding (common in big-name lures, indicating exclusive mold ownership).
- Custom shapes, colors, weights, and scents are available for OEM/ODM orders.

5. Factory vs. Home Workshop Production
- Material control: Factories manage bulk supplies for cost efficiency.
